Large Loft Conversion, Extension & Wine Cellar - Broxbourne

We were required to provide drawings and calculations for a large, complex single-storey extension that would span several metres, as well as a loft conversion.

The Design

There were complicated structural aspects relating to the 8-metre spanning box frame that was required to create the large internal open plan space. Also the detailing of the crown roof dormer was constructed in timber complex connections.

The installation of the wine cellar, a specific request from the client, posed a similar challenge to that of a basement, so specialist temporary works were required to support both the ground and existing building in order to avoid undermining any existing foundations.
